[Sam is sitting on the floor of her bedroom, staring at the dress she was given for the baby shower. Brooke walks in.]
Brooke: Hey.
Sam: Hey.
Brooke: Can I talk to you?
Sam: Mmhmm.
Brooke: [sits down next to her] Listen, I didn’t mean to ambush you before. That wasn’t right.
Sam: It’s okay.
Brooke: [shaking her head] I don’t think it is. [Sam nods.] Sam, I’ve actually been thinking about this and I think you should go spend some time with your real mom. [Sam smiles tearily.] You want to, don’t you? [Sam nods again.]
Sam: Please don’t hate me…
Brooke: Samantha, I could never hate you. [She puts her arm around her.] And I love you very much.
Sam: But… you stayed for me. [crying] You let go of Julian for me.
Brooke: Honey, I was doing what was best for you. And that was true then, and I think it’s true now. You should go, and you know you can always come back here.
Sam: How come you’re so good to me?
Brooke: Because I love you no matter what.
[She and Sam hug.]
Sam: Can I keep the dress?
[Brooke laughs as she and Sam pull apart from the hug.]
Brooke: Of course.
Sam: Just, uh… Victoria said I looked like a Davis in that dress.
Brooke: Honey, you’ll always be a Davis to me.
Sam: You’ll always be my first mom.
Brooke: Okay.
